Le Lakeside Swing |
||
Hi, and welcome to ‘Le Lakeside Swing’.This is a long weekend of swing dance in the French countryside, from September 3rd 2011 for 4 days. It’s an opportunity to start or enhance your 6 beat, 8 beat and Charleston dance. Interested? Please read on. Here are a few more details: What’s included?This break is half-board, so, bed, breakfast and a 2-course evening meal, are all included in the package, as are all of the structured dance lessons. The Itinerary:-Saturday - Welcome to France! We will be starting late afternoon with a ‘meet and greet’, followed by lessons for beginners (L1) and then intermediates (L2). These lessons will be followed by a BBQ and then an evenings social dancing. Sunday - The groups will be switched on Sunday with L2 dancing in the morning and L1 in the afternoon. In the evening there will be a live band with a pizza and pasta buffet (we have our own pizza oven so these are big, fresh and very tasty). Tanya and Ben will also be doing some performance dancing as a fantastic extra for the evening. Monday - The groups switch again with L1 strutting their stuff in the morning and L2 getting their chance in the afternoon. On Monday evening you will be feasting on some classic French cuisine before another chance to social dance with Ben acting as DJ. Tuesday - Assuming you are staying for the four days, Ben and Tanya will be finishing the weekend off with dances such as jazz and shim sham. After dinner there will be a final chance to put all that you have learned into practice – or you could just find a cosy corner to rest your, inevitably, aching muscles! Numbers:So that there is plenty of room to dance, we are restricting the numbers to about 20 beginners and 20 intermediates. We can put up about 30 at La Ferme du Lac, although exact numbers, will depend on sleeping arrangements. Those not staying with us will be camping, staying in their own camper vans, or in accommodation close by. If you would like to come on your own, please let us know, although if we are fully booked you are likely to need to share a room. You would also need to be paired up, so that there are the same number of leads and follows. Groups are also welcome. If you would like to bring a non-dancer please let us know. In order to make this worthwhile for Ben and Tanya we need as many dancers as possible, but we may have room for one or two non-dancers. Time Out?When you’re not dancing, you can either catch up on some sleep, or see the sights – there is plenty to do and see. www.welcome-en-limousin.com is a great site for checking out the area. What’s not included:You need to get to and from the venue and, if you want to check out the area you will need a car. Lunch is not included, but we usually have snacks available, for those who don’t want to go out for the day. And most important, spending money. Dates and Prices:The break will start on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd September and finish after breakfast on Wednesday 7th. The price of this fantastic little break, including the dance lessons, is £240/265€.Tailor-make your break:If you would like to arrive earlier, or leave later you would be very welcome. Talk to us and we will sort out a price. Campers:If you love the idea of a weekends dance in France, but don’t have the budget, or just love the idea of sleeping under the stars, please talk to us. Getting there:Ryanair flights are presently about £75.00 return (from Stansted to Limoges), although their prices go up and down a lot as you get nearer the date. Many people suggest that the best time to book is about 3 months before you travel. If you subscribe to Ryanair you will receive e-mails detailing their offers. At the time of writing, car hire is from £88.00 to £100.00 for a small car. I only searched two companies, so you might do better. We are also happy to group people together in 4’s or more so that you can split the cost of a car, or people carrier hire. If you are interested please let us know. If you are happy to fly and to remain at the venue we will pick you up from the airport but please be aware that we really are out in the sticks. The local village, which has one other bar/restaurant and a small shop is about 2½km away and the nearest town is about 8km. If you chose to come by road the best ports to aim for are those from Calais (8 hour drive to us) and Dieppe (6/7 hour drive to us). You can also get to Limoges or Angouleme by train from Paris. Further information can be found on the ‘Travel’ page of our website. Booking/Further InformationIf you have any further questions, or would like to book please email Peta at info@lafermedulac.com.
