Bar, Restaurant & Pizzeria

La Ferme du Lac has the advantage of having its own bar and restaurant. This has built up over the years that we have been in business.

We have an ever changing menu with a number of classic English and French dishes. See the example menus below. However, we will also speak to you about your groups’ requirements to ensure you eat the sort of food you like.

Depending on the time of year the vegetables are from our own, organic, garden.

We are happy to cater for vegetarians.

In addition, to our French and English dishes, we also have a pizza oven. Our range of pizzas is fairly typical, with something spicy, a calzone (folded pizza), and vegetarian, as well as meat and seafood options. They range in price from 7€ to 10€. We also make our own garlic bread and from time to time, to finish off the Italian section, we make home made lasagne and pasta with a range of sauces.

In high season, Saturday night is usually a BBQ night and Wednesday night we fire up the pizza oven.

The bar is well stocked. Our draft beer is Fischer which comes from the Alsace. We also stock a number of English bitters, Guinness and a few strong Belgian beers.

Some typical examples of our menu include dishes such as these:

Starters:
  • French Onion Soup.
  • Garlic prawns.
  • Baked Camembert (for 2 to share).
  • Starter Platter (local meats & olives with fresh bread and oils).

Mains:

  • Great steaks from the famous Limousin herd.
  • Poulet Basquaise (a beautiful Basque stew of chicken with tomatoes, olives, peppers and a hint of chilli).
  • There is always fish on the menu with either Nile Perch, Salmon or Tuna.
  • Cassoulet. Classic Southern French ‘Stew’ of White Beans with Duck, Toulouse Sausage and Pork Belly.

Vegetarian:

  • Our vegetarian chef cooks to order and the dish of the day changes depending on what is fresh, or, at the right time of year, what is growing best in the garden. The vegetarian option is usually 8€ or 9€.
  • Above anything else we promise that you will not be stuck with omelette and chips unless that’s what you want.

Desserts:

  • Peta's Crème Brulee – caramelised in front of you – has fans from all over the world. You will love it.
  • Poached Pears in Mulled Wine. Another tempting treat from the kitchen.
  • Sheila's Brioche Pudding (similar to our own bread and butter pudding but using French ingredients).

The cost obviously depends on the dishes chosen but here are a couple of examples:

Example for 1 person – French Onion Soup, Poulet Basquaise and Brioche Pudding -18€.

Example for 2 people – Camembert to share, one Steak and one Catch of the Day, and two different Desserts – 37€.

Kids - Phew - We nearly forgot the young ones.

  • Our kids menu is varied as well as well priced. We offer a burger, nuggets, or sausages with either rice, salad or chips. They will also get a choice of ice creams and all for just 6€. And, if your young ones are a bit more discerning, we can provide smaller portions from the restaurant menu.
